Solitary Man
Today we visit the old city in Jerusalem, the Christian Quarter to be exact. The old city is divided into four quarters, the Christian Quarter, the Muslim Quarter, the Jewish Quarter and the Armenian Quarter. Each of these quarters has a uniqueness all its own. The streets are narrow, the architecture dates back to the 1500’s, shopping stalls overflow with merchandise in the markets while vendors are vying for your attention. Through all of this I spotted this lone gentlemen quietly sitting on the stairs of a church.
Edith, this fellow leaves the imagination to wonder what is going through his mind. The colour of the church stone is magnificent. A great shot. Gerry

I love all the detail of the stone, Edith, and the placement of the man adds the perfect element of scale.

Such calmness over this picture. Or maybe it’s more a tired man I see than anything else. But the contrast between this organic element and the beautiful texture of the building enhances the mood. Lovely. You have done a great job of making the subtle details of the wall come through.

Beautiful shot Edith. Well done. I fondly remember walking through the streets there, witnessing all these different cultures living alongside one another (mostly) peacefully,

A very interesting shot. By keeping the man’s face hidden the viewer can come up with many different interpretations for this simple image. The offset of the man’s dark clothing against the lighter stone colors in the rest of the scene is perfect. nicely done Edith!
