How Cavalier of You

Do you ever find that the weekends just seem to get away from you and you don’t get half the things done that you wanted to get done? Well that was this weekend for me. Friday night I made a mental note of everything that I wanted to accomplish and by Sunday night I made a mental note of everything I didn’t. Oh well…life’s too short to sweat the small stuff.

One thing I have been meaning to do is to shoot my dog, Brady doing what he loves best…playing catch in the park. Now if you haven’t met Brady yet he’s a 7 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who has me wrapped around his little paw.

  14. Nellie was our Cavalier who died 2 years back. Her picture is my cellphone screensaver. She had the same color as Brady. Reggie, our first, was a black and tan. He was a terrible photo subject. His color just never photographed well. As for Nellie … well we got tons. Make sure to shoot at floor level. As in, put the camera absolutely on the floor. it’s a great perspective.

    • Thanks Victor. Our first cavalier was named Bugsy and he was a tri-color. They’re great dogs. I was actually laying flat on the grass when I took most of these pictures.

The penultimate shot perfectly illustrates to me what you said about having you wrapped around his little paw. Brady knows exactly what he is doing and how to strike a pose or give you the look so that he gets exactly what he wants!

  24. What an adorable dog! I love the photo of him running towards you with the ball in his mouth! Your timing was perfect, that he appears to be floating on the grass. Also love that photo of him lying down with his curled tongue sticking out, he’s just so cute!

  26. Lovely pictures, Edith. We had a black and tan King Charles Spaniel. Sadly he became diabetic as he got old (I diagnosed him!) which meant he had to have an Insulin injection every day, It made life rather difficult due to strict diet etc. But he was a lovely little dog.
