Rum Shack
It was minus 16 degrees Celsius in Toronto today….brrrr….and as I sit here with my warm fuzzy slippers on, getting ready to write tomorrow’s post I suddenly decided that I needed to post an image that made me feel all warm inside. We were in Falmouth, Jamaica and as we were walking back to the ship I noticed this little Rum Shack with its colorful oil drums. It actually reminded me (at least the concept did) of the still that Hawkeye had set up in the swamp on M.A.S.H. (I know I’m dating myself…if you don’t know what I’m talking about then Google it 🙂 )
I didn’t have time to stop and sample any of this rum but then again I’d already had my fair share on the beach.
Friends I have a favour to ask of you. I’ve entered an image into Gura Gear’s Black & White Photo Contest on Facebook. Please take a minute and vote for my image. Click here to go to the voting page. Thanks so much.
Click on the image to enlarge (trust me the detail is viewed better large) or to Purchase a Print.

Ah, M*A*S*H*, what a great show! I can see how this scene would remind you of The Swamp! Great colors and good catch!

What a great find, Edith. I really like this image and it’s festive colors. That’s an nice example of marketing those guys have come up with. Sure has an old still look. 🙂

Nice catch, Edith. I can see why the colors of the barrels caught you eye but to me the key part of this image is the two people inside the Rum Shack that you see through the open window.

Thanks Mark. Yes originally it was the barrels that caught my eye but then I saw the two men and I had to adjust my composition to get them in the shot.

Wow, how funny that you should mention MASH because the hubby and I have been watching old reruns of it on TV just recently, and I still love that show :). Great photo! I think I could use a shot of that rum today because it was -28 when I got up this morning :(!!
