A Walk in the Judean Hills
When I first go through images from a shoot I mark the keepers (and the ones that I’m going to process), delete the technically poor ones and then there are the ones that are technically ok but just don’t jump out at me. Every so often I go through my archives and see something in an image that I didn’t see before. This was taken a few years back on a trip to Israel. We were in the Judean Hills not far from Jerusalem. It was mid-day and the sun was very harsh so the original image was washed out but when I looked at it again I really liked the way the tree was shaped. It almost looks like its going for a walk. I re-processed the image with a vintage monochrome look and really liked the way it came out. What do you think?
If you’ve been thinking about taking the plunge and purchasing the Topaz Labs Bundle there are 2 more days, until July 7th, to save $100. You can click here to view the deal or to download a free trial.
Click on the image to enlarge (it really does look better) or to Purchase a Print.
That’s a great shot. It’s a good thing you looked back through your archives!

Great image. The walking tree reminds me of those in one of the Lord of the Rings films.

It looks really gorgeous, Edith! Love the ethereal feeling.
It’s funny because I was going through the same process this morning with my images. I was looking at them with a new perspective. Time allow us to be less critic about our result, and be more open. 😉
Have a great week-end my friend!

I was pondering your image thinking, it looks like the tree has legs walking with boots on…and then read your narrative. Love the vintage look and the subject.

I do much the same as you do. After an interval of time I think when we re-visit an image we come to it with a clear head, and often with new ideas because we have grown in our ability to process. I love this ‘high key’ almost ethereal image. It speaks of heat and white light. Very evocative. Well processed, Edith

Very nice save of an image you hadn’t rated very high to begin with. It pays to go back through the catalog, we always seem to have overlooked something worth processing.
Great choice going vintage, Edith. The tree really does look like it’s about to walk away. 🙂
