Writing with Light

Afternoon in the Village

Taking a little break from my subway station images of New York this is a shot of a small park in Greenwich Village.

This was a quick “grab” shot as my husband and I were walking around the village. It was late afternoon, the light was not great actually it was pretty dull but I liked the scene. I processed this image in Lightroom CC and then brought it into Photoshop where I used Topaz Texture Effects. I used a couple of different filters, tweaking each as I went to get my final result.

On another note, I posted two versions of a night shot of Times Square (colour & Black & White) on my Facebook and Instagram pages this weekend. I asked for feedback on which people preferred, the colour version or the B&W one. It was a pretty even split with the colour beating to the B&W by 1 vote. I’d love to know what you think. If you have a minute hop on over to my Facebook page and let me know. I’d appreciate the feedback.

  4. Nice shot. Aren’t you able to use the Topaz suite with LR, or do you have more control in PS?

    • Topaz is compatible with LR but o was already in PS because I needed to do some cloning so from there I launched the plugin.
