Old Jaffa in Black & White
I’m very excited as I’m heading back to Israel in a couple of weeks. While planning travel always gets my adrenal going, this is very different as my son is there and it’s been almost 6 months since I’ve seen him. I’ve got lots of hugs ready to burst out of me.
I’ve posted images of Old Jaffa in Tel Aviv before on this site but this time I decided to process a series of images in black and white.
While the vibrant colours of the stones in the old city are very appealing I found that the monochrome really draws the viewers attention to the striking lines and tones in the images.
You can see more images from Israel and Old Jaffa in my gallery here.
As you can see I now have my computer back, new hard drive installed and back in business!
Engaging monochromes. Bon voyage and bring back great visual memories.

Surely these b&w are amazing! Contrast does bring it out alive. Btw it must be nice feeling to have your hard disk back and anticipation of meeting your son. have a nice fulfilling trip Edith!

Love your images. As I have been in Israel twice, since my cousin lives there for like over 40 Years. Back than it was beautiful to travel there by bus, hitch hiking with trucks on shabat when no busses are driving. I bet it still has kept it’s beauty in it’s heart. Have a great trip

Thank you Cornelia. You wouldn’t believe how beautiful it is today and believe it or not people are still hitchhiking 🙂

I saw your comment over on Shimon’s blog mentioning your son, Edith. These narrow alleyways just lead the eye on and the absence of other people somehow symbolizes peace and tranquility – at odds with the wider world and Israel in particular. Have a good trip

The shapes and textures make these perfect for mono – well, to my mono biased mind anyway! 🙂
