Writing with Light

Golden Jaffa

I haven’t blogged in close to 2 weeks and what has happened to the world in that time? Tel Aviv, Orlando, Paris! I don’t talk politics on this blog and rarely discuss current work events but this is enough.

I get angry when I hear reports of terrorist attacks; shootings; pledges of destroying a whole country. I ask the same questions over and over…how can people hate so much?….how does one take a life…or 4…or 49 so easily? Innocent human beings who are just going about their lives in a restaurant or nightclub. Once the initial anger subsides I realize that this is exactly the reaction these animals are hoping for.

I’m travelling back to Tel Aviv next month and I will go to the Sarona market and dine at a restaurant as I’ve done in the past. Later this year I hope to travel back to Europe. To my amazing neighbours to the south….I’ll be there in a couple of weeks.

I for one will not stop living. To quote Lin Manuel Miranda’s Tony acceptance speech (which was brilliant by the way)…

We lived through times when hate and fear seemed stronger;
We rise and fall and light from dying embers, remembrances that hope and love last longer
And love is love is love is love is love is love is love is love cannot be killed or swept aside.

It’s time to let in some light!

  1. Beautiful image! I posted something on my FB that I won’t be discussing politics any longer. The world is going crazy and I have no desire to get even more stressed when I’m trying to get away from it.

  2. I totally agree with you and I also think it is enough with this hatred between people just because they are different…I also agree that we have to not give in to fear…Great image to illustrate your words. (Suzanne)

  3. Unfortunately, you can add Brussels to your list; an ISIS fanatic stabbed a transgender woman… Great picture as always! Where in Europe will you be traveling?

    Oh Edith, times can be so dreadful, and those who exacerbate and encouage violence make it even worse.
    Thank you for quoting Lin Manuel Miranda, and for living and loving, still

    • Thanks Laurie. It’s a new world we’re living in but love has to over power hate.

  12. I’m with you…I won’t stop living my life. All of this is heartbreaking and madness, all we can do is show kindness to everyone who comes into our lives and continue to post reminders of the beauty that surrounds us all. To waste your life on hate…pitiful.
