The Hour of the Land, A Personal Topography of America’s National Parks by Terry Tempest Williams, is being released today and I am so honoured and excited to tell you that one of my images will be featured in the book. In conjunction with the release of the book, EUQINOMprojects will be having a gallery group exhibit of the photographs in Terry’s book.
If you find yourself in the San Francisco area, I encourage you to visit the gallery and see the exhibit. Below is the press release from EUQINOMprojects:
Here are a few images from the exhibit….
And lastly my image “Taking it All In” taken a Acadia national Park.
I was contemplating this week’s photo challenge and which image I should post. Naturally with a theme like “renewal” I was leaning towards posting an image of a bloom in the spring but then I started to think about what makes me feel “renewed and fresh.” It’s being out by the ocean…it does it to me every time and obviously this couple felt the same way on this day. I was a bit envious when I spotted them. It seemed that they had Otter Point (in Acadia National Park) all to themselves. I made a mental note to bring a chair the next time I visited 🙂

Back to Maine for this image. This was taken atop Cadillac Mountain right after sunrise. It was such a beautiful morning and we were already up….so we went for a walk.

I hope all my fellow Canadian and U.S. friends are enjoying this long labour Day weekend. I thought I’d have some fun today and ask for your help in naming this image or at least providing a caption for it.
I met my two fine feathered friends the day we were hiking at Otter Point in Acadia National Park. The one on the left was quite vocal.
This week’s WordPress photo challenge was an interesting one for me. “Free Spirit” I have thought of myself as a free spirit…at times.
“Free spirits are inclined to explore life and taste new experiences that hold true to the deepest parts of themselves vs. being influenced by what the masses around them are doing. They are often people who think freely and have the courage to hear their own voice and follow their own integrity.”
While some want to capture the beauty of a sunrise by documenting the moment with a photograph, others want to purely take it all in holistically. And then there are those that want to photograph the holistic experience others are having. 😉
