View from the Charles Bridge

Well…January is almost over and I hope it’s not to late to wish you all a Happy New Year. This is probably the longest absence I’ve had from blogging in the past 5 years.

Coming of a bout of bronchitis right after the holidays made getting back into the groove of things a bit more difficult. Well…I think I’m back on track and wanted to share this image taken on the Charles Bridge in Prague.

No new years resolutions this year (I tend to break those) but I do promise to “try” to be more consistent in my blogging schedule.  Did you guys make any resolutions?

Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Panorama

The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk amusement park is exactly that. An amusement park right on the beach. The boardwalk has been in operation since 1907 and is one of the last seaside amusement parks in the United States.

This image is a 12 frame panorama that I shot from the beach. I didn’t have my tripod with me so did the pivot / swivel in the sand trying to stay as level as I could. Photoshop Elements did a great job of merging the images but at one point I thought my Mac was going to blow up. Once the merge was complete I ran the image through Topaz Clarity to give it some punch and that was it.

iPhone Friday – Panorama Mania Courtesy of iOS6

OK I had something completely different planned for today but that’s going to have to wait. I updated my iPhone yesterday to iOS6 and of all the great new features the first one that I had to try out was the panorama option on the camera. When I first heard about it I honestly didn’t think it was going to work as well as it does. The pano “box” on the screen makes sure that the iPhone is level and once you press the shutter you just have to pan along smoothly to get your shot.

I worked today so unfortunately I didn’t have anything exciting to shoot but hopefully these 2 images will give you an idea of the potential of this new feature.
